2022 General Fund Commitment

October 13, 2021

Dear Church,

Thank you for being a part of the Living Body of Christ as God’s willing servants in discipleship. I wanted to share with you that our annual Stewardship Campaign for the General Fund will begin this month. The overall theme for each Sunday will be “Willing Servants.” I encourage us as a congregation to dream, reflect, and pray about how God is calling us to worship, learn and serve. So much has happened this year because of your willing service that we want to celebrate.

Community of Grace began in-person worship in July, continued worship via Zoom, and restarted choir rehearsals. I have personally been so excited to listen to hymns during our worship services that we are producing with Bill playing the piano and congregation members sharing their vocal talent. We continued as a teaching congregation in 2021 by welcoming Vicar Jared Fischer for a two-year internship. We also recently had our first Baptism for 2021. This fall, our Confirmation, Youth and Adult Bible study groups have begun meeting on Wednesday evenings and our Men’s Ministry has resumed monthly in-person fellowship and Bible Study.

In October, we have been raising awareness, collecting non-perishable food along with personal care & household items, and receiving financial donations for the Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry. Our confirmation class even enjoyed gathering one Wednesday evening this month to plant seeds in the CoG Garden. The Coop is a ministry our church supports because they care for those in need right here in our community.

How has Community of Grace continued to thrive throughout 2021?

  • You have been willing to try new things, asked for technical help, logged into our Zoom worship services, attended in-person with safety measures in place and used our daily resources found on our website www.transformlives.org.
  • You have continued to participate both on-line and in-person in the different ministries offered.
  • Your general fund, building fund and outreach offering has been received through our online donation site, in the mail and in our coffer located in the Narthex.
  • You have cared for one another. I have lost count of the many times I’ve heard a story of a member of our congregation caring for another. When you check-in on, pray for, or simply share a laugh with one another you are making a difference in someone’s world.

So, in the coming weeks, please actively engage in worship and the materials being shared.  Pray about how you can become more generous. Join your Vision Board in making a commitment to our ministry for next year. 2022 General Fund Commitment Cards will be available to pick up on Sunday, October 31, 2021 (we will mail those not picked up on Monday, November 1st.) Commitment Sunday will be November 7th, 2021. You can place your Commitment Card in the offering coffer in the Narthex at the in-person worship, mail it to the church or drop it off in our locked mailbox.

God has called you to be a “Willing Servant” at Community of Grace and I thank you for responding to that call.

Sincerely in Christ,

Pastor Matthew Henning

“For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve,
and to give his life a ransom for many.”
